Variations on the Imago Dialogue.

These videos introduce the therapist to a range of variations on the dialogue that are taught in the Imago Clinical training, including the Parent-Child Dialogue, the Behaviour Change Request Dialogue and the Relationship Vision. It also includes a demonstration of an initial interview with a couple using the Imago model.

Variations on the Imago Dialogue.
  • 13. Parent Child dialogue - unmet needs

This dialogue is a regressive process that takes the Sender back into their childhood experience.  Among its many benefits is to help partners to deepen empathetic understanding and connection.

  • 12. Caring Behaviours Dialogue

This wonderful dialogue can be introduced out of the material a couple has been working on, or as a way of amplifying the positive energy in their relationship.

  • 11. Relationship Vision Exercise

This process invites each partner to share the picture of the relationship they really want to have with each other.  The couple is then asked to weave these elements together into a shared vision.  This shared vision becomes their intention for their relationship.

  • 14. Positive Parent Child Dialogue

This dialogue is a regressive process that takes the Sender back into their childhood and connects them in a visceral way to their positive experiences.  Among its many benefits is to help partners to deepen empathetic understanding and connection.

  • 8. Intake interview

Sophie takes a couple through an Intake Interview.  This initial interview is key in establishing connection with the clients and providing a sense that this will be a safe place for them to work on their relationship.

  • 6. Full Dialogue

This three step process teaches couples that really listening to, understanding and having empathy for their partner are essential elements in good communication which can build safety and connection.

  • 15. Behaviour Change Request Dialogue

An "advanced" Imago dialogue that is designed to help couples move from the energy of a frustration to the specifics of healing and growth.  Through this dialogue a frustration can become a gift for both the sender and the receiver.

  • 7. Deepening from Content to Affect

Deepening from Content to Affect - Demonstrating the skills available to therapists to help deepen the affective connection between partners.

  • 9. Centering and Relaxation Exercise for starting a session

An example of a very useful way of beginning a session to help bring the couple into the room in a nice relaxed way and let go of anything that they are bringing that doesn't belong in the relational space.
